Grew Old With Verve

In the early 80's I inherited more than 30 china cups from two elderly cousins who had been collecting cups for many years.

The cups were of all sizes and shapes and decorated very differently. I wondered who had owned each cup originally. Do we leave imprints on objects?

The paintings are numbered in the order the cups were read.

In 1989 I began the China Cup Series. My psychic friend, Denning Chambers, "read" the cups to see who were the origin owners.

Through her words the stories began to unfold. Each painting is a combination that began with the cups, Denning’s words, and then

my research and imagination. The end result is a group of portraits whose stories are as diverse as are the many characters

that inhabit our world. The titles are words from the readings that capture the essence of each portrait.

So far I have completed 26 of these paintings but I have many more readings to work from.... so the series continues.

These paintings measure 40”x30” or larger.
